WHO CAN MAKE A SUPRISE RUN?

Los Gatos has quietly been one of the South Bay’s most impressive teams this season. The Wildcats won the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division title and have strung together winning streaks of seven or more twice this season. Los Gatos was given the No. 3 seed in Division I and will face No. 6 Carmel at home on Saturday. If seeds hold, the Wildcats will play Serra in the semifinals. … Milpitas won its first league title in over 20 years, going a perfect 15-0 in the SCVAL El Camino Division. The Trojans will face a big test when they play No. 2 Santa Cruz in their Division V quarterfinal matchup on the road. Milpitas certainly has the pitching to make a playoff run as Nathan Pagba and Robert Ridola each have sub-2.00 ERAs. … Trent Amoroso, Cruz Torres and Ryan Dodge have led a Woodside offense that is one of the best on the Peninsula. The Wildcats, who won the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division championship, averaged nearly eight runs a game. Woodside is the No. 6 seed in Division III and will go on the road to play No. 3 Palma. If the Wildcats can pull off the upset, they will likely face Christopher in the semifinals.
