A 4-year-old Zion boy was fatally injured Wednesday when the car in which he was riding was hit head-on by another vehicle in Waukegan, according to Lake County authorities.
The coroner’s office identified the child as Kaleb Hardge.
He was riding in a booster seat when his vehicle, which was being driven by his mother, collided Wednesday in Waukegan at 8:12 a.m. at Sunset and Kellogg avenues.
One of the vehicles crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck the second vehicle head-on, the coroner’s office said. There were multiple injuries requiring transport, the coroner’s office said.
The child was brought to Vista East Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead, the coroner’s office said.
