On April 18, 2024, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met to discuss the urgent need for military aid to Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. The two leaders emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with the necessary support for effective defense against Russian aggression.

Kuleba reiterated the urgency of passing an additional aid package for Ukraine and highlighted the significant impact it could have in saving Ukrainian lives from Russian attacks. He cited the recent Russian missile attack on Chernihiv, which killed at least 18 people, as a tragic example of violence in Ukraine.

The meeting of G7 foreign ministers on the Mediterranean island of Capri was scheduled to discuss support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, the US House of Representatives was scheduled to vote on new military aid over the weekend, including approximately $61 billion in aid to Ukraine. Both Blinken and Kuleba stressed the critical need for immediate action to provide Ukraine with the necessary resources to defend against Russian aggression and prevent further tragedy.
