In South Egremont, Massachusetts, the Flying Cloud Institute and Greenagers will join forces to host a science and art exploration program during the upcoming April school vacation. This exciting program is aimed at children aged 7 to 13 and will take place from April 15 to 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with early departure possible at 8:30 a.m. The location for this engaging adventure will be at the April Hill Education and Conservation Center in South Egremont.

During the program, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities including scientific research, art projects, engineering challenges and nature explorations. In previous recess programs, students have worked with phosphorescent polymers, learned about sound using an oscilloscope, and participated in an engineering challenge using everyday materials. They have also designed structures using TinkerCad software and 3D printers, studied sheep and looked at wool samples under a microscope, and created felted wool projects. The program concludes with outdoor activities such as a walk, a scavenger hunt and an exhibition of creations.

The April Hill Education and Conservation Centre serves as Greenagers’ headquarters and is also used as a resource for community gatherings and education. The property boasts nature trails, vegetable gardens, orchards, pastures, hayfields and connects to the Appalachian Trail.

Maria Rundle, Executive Director of the Flying Cloud Institute expressed her excitement about partnering with Greenagers on this program stating that she looks forward to engaging young minds through creative experiences. The cost of this four-day program is $220 but financial aid options are available for those who need it to attend this unique experience with their children during the spring break holiday period .
