A Zoarville man is currently in jail awaiting formal charges from the district attorney’s office in connection with a string of recent burglaries, Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell announced. The incidents include break-ins at the Dollar General in Roswell, Tusky Valley Elementary School and the Atwood Dari bar.
Deputy Chase Newell reviewed security camera footage and identified the truck seen at all three locations, which was entered into a state database. Authorities were led to the suspect’s home, where he appeared to be trying to change the appearance of the truck. The 39-year-old suspect is accused of stealing a Chromebook from an elementary school office, along with cigarettes, food and drinks from other locations.
Sheriff Campbell revealed that his deputies are working with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office to determine if the suspect is also responsible for the recent theft from the Dollar General store in Sherrodsville. In addition, the suspect was found in possession of a pop-up camper that had been reported stolen out of Stark County.
Investigations are ongoing and more details will be released as the case progresses.
