Anya Taylor-Joy attended her latest event to promote her forthcoming film “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” on Wednesday. The actress joined costar Chris Hemsworth and director George Miller for the photo call in Sydney.
For the occasion, the Emmy-nominated star fashioned a look from Rick Owens‘ spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The floor-length dress featured a sleeveless, one-shoulder strap in a burnt sienna hue and two contrasting fabrics. The top featured a softer fabric, while the high-waisted skirt of the dress featured a crumpled leather aesthetic and avant-garde pockets on the hips.
Taylor-Joy accessorized her look with a pair of diamond chain earrings and a gold wrist cuff courtesy of Tiffany & Co., for whom the actress has been an ambassador since 2021. The actress’ blond hair was styled — in a sleek, straight look worn down her back — by Gregory Russell. Her makeup, featuring defined cheekbones and a soft lip, was done by Georgie Eisdell. Taylor-Joy’s entire look was curated by stylist Ryan Hastings.
Taylor-Joy’s dress made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. Owens’ collection was inspired, in part, by donuts and spun sugar, as WWD’s review noted of the looped fabrics on display. “I was trying to reduce clothes to just the most elemental thing, and donuts in the duvet fabric, they work everywhere — on the plane, or you can throw it on the floor for a dog bed,” the American fashion designer said.
The collection featured bubble-shaped dresses, crumpled leather and foam sculptural elements throughout. Among the most consistent trends in the collection, pointy, pronounced shoulders were an intricate part of Owens’ designs for the spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection.
“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is the prequel to Miller’s 2015 feature “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The film follows a young Furiosa’s abduction from her home and her fight to escape the clutches of warlords and biker hordes to find her way back. The film will be released on May 24.
