Bay FC produced another home thriller on Friday night, scoring twice in the second half to rally for a 2-1 win over San Diego Wave FC.
Scarlett Camberos and Racheal Kundananji scored for the expansion squad (3-7-0), which snapped a five-game losing streak before an announced crowd of 16,930 at PayPal Park in San Jose.
All five of Bay FC’s home games have been decided by one goal. The squad has won two of those games, and the deciding goal in both of those games was scored in the 87th minute.
The Wave (3-4-2) took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Kyra Carusa pounced on a loose ball on a corner kick and scored in the 23rd minute.
Bay FC, which was coming off a shutout loss to Orlando and had been out-scored 13-6 during the losing streak, broke through ten minutes into the second half. Kiki Pickett dribbled the ball into the box and found Camberos open to her left, who had time to wind up and slide her shot into the right corner.
Camberos is the ninth different player to score for Bay FC this season.
In the 87th minute, Dorian Bailey ran onto a ball sent into the box just before goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan arrived and cut it back for Kundananji, who slid to push the ball into the goal. It was Kundananji’s second goal of the season, both coming in the past four games.
Bay FC snapped a streak of 15 straight wins by San Diego when the Wave were leading at halftime. San Diego had been 15-0-0 all-time in NWSL regular season play when leading at halftime.
Up next for Bay FC is a home game against NJ/NY Gotham FC (3-2-3) on Friday at 7 p.m.
