Calvert County residents are invited to join in on “Chalk the Walk” events taking place at various public locations to raise awareness about children’s mental health. These events, organized by the Calvert County Family Network (CCFN), the Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Calvert County Public Schools, the Calvert Library, CalvertHealth, Calvert County Behavioral Health, the Local Behavioral Health Advisory Council and local businesses, will be held from May 5-11 to coincide with Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

During these events, participants are encouraged to use chalk to create drawings or write positive messages of encouragement on designated public sidewalks or their own sidewalks. The goal is to promote awareness and reduce stigma surrounding children’s mental health while starting conversations about overall well-being. Participants are also encouraged to share photos of their creations on social media using the hashtag #CalvertMentalHealthMatters.
