Excellence in Multimedia and Sales: VKU Student Publications Acknowledges Top Performers – News Puk

During an awards ceremony held on April 19, three student leaders in VKU Student Publications were recognized by the college’s business and advertising managers. Emma Bayens, a senior photojournalism major from Louisville, won first place in the Best Multimedia Content Creator category. Rhiannon Johnston, a photojournalism and advertising junior from Louisville, won third place in the same category. Abby Loftus, a senior advertising and strategic communications major from Troy, Illinois, also won third place in the top sales representative category.

Emma Byens is the co-director of Cherry Creative and is known for her exceptional skills as a photojournalist. Rhiannon Johnston is a talented video editor for Cherry Creative who excels at creating multimedia content. Abbi Loftus serves as student publications advertising manager and has demonstrated exceptional skills in sales advocacy.

The Student Publications Advertising and Cherry Creative student staff work together to generate revenue that keeps the Student Publications running. Assistant Principal Sam Oldenburg advises both groups.

VKU Student Publications comprises four student-run areas: Talisman, a lifestyle magazine founded in 1924; College Heights Herald, a news organization founded in 1925; Student Publications Advertising, a sales team founded in 1925; and Cherry Creative, a branded content studio launched in 2018. These divisions collaborate to create engaging content and offer advertising opportunities to clients targeting the VKU community.
