Siblings Jaden and Willow Smith made a striking entrance at the Met Gala 2024 on Monday in New York, clad in their signature red carpet minimalist black-and-white palette.
Jaden Smith sported a custom Thom Browne coat in white denim, paired with a quilted white oxford shirt left unbuttoned to reveal his chest, accentuated with white and pink dahlias. Below, he donned a black pleated knee-length skirt over pants, offering a playful twist on Browne’s classic prep tailoring.
While skirts are making waves in menswear fashion on the runway, the MsftsRep brand owner has been embracing the garment in his street style since at least 2016, when he also notably wore a fringed skirt for a Louis Vuitton women’s ad campaign.
Willow, who was on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” with Rosalía earlier on Monday, opted for an oversize structured black single-breasted satin blazer, paired with sheer black leggings for a sleek yet edgy look. Completing her ensemble, she chose pointed black patent leather stilettos and adorned her fingers with statement sculptural gold rings.
Both siblings showcased their distinctive lock hairstyles. Jaden sported his signature grown-out dreads with bangs falling just at eye level, while Willow styled her hair in an updo, secured and accented like a crown with a black headscarf.
The Met Gala, renowned for raising funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” pays homage to the upcoming “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit, set to open to the public on Friday. Notably, the 2024 event is cochaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour.
