April 30

POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA: 1:12 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Bascom Avenue. A man was knocking over newspaper stands and yelling. He was contacted and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

RETAIL THEFT: 12:51 p.m. in the 500 block of East Hamilton Avenue. A shoplifter stole less than $400 in merchandise.

DISTURBANCE BY LOUD NOISE: 8:23 a.m. in the 500 block of West Hacienda Avenue. A woman was playing loud music inside her apartment, and the victim said it has been an issue for over a year.

RETAIL THEFT, CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA: 9:49 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Bascom Avenue. A woman entered the store with two other people. She exited the store without paying, and the other two decided to pay for their items. The suspect was in possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine, under the influence of a stimulant and committed organized retail theft. She also had three felony warrants.

OBTAINING MONEY BY FALSE PRETENSES: in the 1600 block of South Winchester Boulevard. The victim has had approximately $5,000 withdrawn from his bank account since approximately one year ago without his permission.

ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON: 6:35 p.m. in the 500 block of West Rincon Avenue. Three victims were confronted by a man who was acting erratic. He approached the group several times and final displayed a silver box-cutter/knife while trying to slash at the males. The suspect was able to cut one victim on the right hand prior to being wrestled to the ground and disarmed.

May 1

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: 5:07 p.m. in the 2100 block of Winchester Boulevard. Officers responded to a report of a male and female causing a disturbance at a restaurant.  The man was arrested for public intoxication.

May 2

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, CONCEALING EVIDENCE: 1:50 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Bascom Avenue. A woman had four outstanding misdemeanor warrants totaling $38,000. A small baggie of white crystalline substance was found hidden within arms reach of where she was sitting.

CORPORAL INJURY, FALSE IMPRISONMENT: 11 p.m. in the 900 BLOCK RAVENSCOURT Avenue. A man held the victim in a tight hug against her will, preventing her from leaving for three minutes. They struggled at the door of the victim’s vehicle when she tried to leave. The man shoved the door closed on the victim’s arm, leaving a red mark.

May 3

DEFRAUD INNKEEPER: 1:47 p.m. in the 100 block of East Campbell Avenue. Four people dined and dashed to the VTA station on Winchester. The bill was $950.

RETAIL THEFT: 5 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Bascom Avenue. Two people stole about $2,010 worth of fragrances.

May 4

DUI: 2:31 a.m. at Curtner Avenue and South McGlincy Lane. A man was stopped for a vehicle code violation. He displayed signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication and failed to perform sobriety field tests as explained and demonstrated.

PETTY THEFT: 4:10 p.m. in the 2400 block of Winchester Boulevard. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a business. A woman was observed exiting the store as employees flagged down officers and said she had taken items without paying. The woman was stopped, cited for theft and released from the scene.

ROBBERY: 6:05 a.m. in the 2300 block of Winchester Boulevard. A man entered a business and stole a $1 Crunch bar. The victim followed him and asked him to pay. He told the victim, “I will f-ing kill you!”

DUI: 2:15 a.m. in the South Bascom and East Hamilton avenues. A man was stopped for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be DUI and placed under arrest.

May 5

BURGLARY: 1:19 a.m. in the 200 block of Budd Avenue. Officers responded to a report of someone pulling the screen off of a window and entering the building.

PETTY THEFT: 3:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Bascom Avenue. A man was observed in the business and recognized from prior incidents. He stole a bag and was contacted after he exited the business without making any attempt to pay. The bag was recovered and returned.

RETAIL THEFT: 2:21 p.m. in the 500 block of East Hamilton Avenue. Two people fled with approximately $1,300 in miscellaneous products. The suspects were detained outside the business while in possession of the items and were placed under arrest.

May 6

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, CARRYING LOADED HANDGUN, WILLFUL DISCHARGE OF FIREARM, BATTERY ON PEACE OFFICER: 1:58 a.m. in the 200 block of East Hamilton Avenue. Officers responded to a report of multiple subjects playing loud music. One person resisted officers and challenged them to a fight. An unregistered Stoger 9mm handgun was determined to have belonged to another suspect. Five additional suspects were arrested for disorderly conduct and were booked into jail.
