Police in northwest Miami-Dade are currently investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a business Wednesday night. The incident happened at a jet ski repair shop located near Northwest 50th Street and 35th Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. The victim was identified as German Amado De La Cruz, Jr., who owned the store.
Upon arrival, Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) officers found De La Cruz suffering from gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) transported him to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. According to eyewitnesses present at the scene, the shooter was at work in the morning, and the shooting happened much later in the day.
A friend of the victim who works next door expressed shock at the incident and noted that De La Cruz had not previously mentioned any problems. A friend described De La Cruz as a married man with two children, one of whom is an infant. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and police have not yet identified a suspect.
