Rachel McAdams attended a 2024 Tony Awards nominees event in New York City to celebrate her recent nomination in the Best Actress in a Play category for her work in the Broadway show “Mary Jane.” The first-time Tony nominee was joined by other nominated actors and Broadway creatives for the red carpet event on Thursday.
For the occasion, McAdams showcased her twist on power dressing. The “Mean Girls” alum fashioned a silk button-down shirt in cream with brown lines accentuating the row of buttons down the front, edge of the collar, cuffs, shoulder and side of the shirt and the pocket square featured on the top.
The “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” star paired the top with high-waisted, crisp white trousers. As for her accessories, McAdams wore the Paire De Maxi Créoles Berlingot Or Jaune earrings by Yvonne Léon, a golden ear cuff and Classic Diamond Double Row Eternity Band by Suzanne Kalan.
McAdams’ appearance for the red carpet event coincides with her first Tony Award nomination. The actress recently celebrated her Broadway debut. For the opening night of “Mary Jane” on April 22, McAdams fashioned a look from designer JW Anderson’s fall 2024 collection.
The actress wore a semi-sheer, soft pink gown with a high neckline and miniature train. The frock also featured a twisted hemline, created by using excess material from the garment’s length and bringing it up through the waistline in a single rope-like knot.
In the past, McAdams has worn other looks from the likes of such designers as Victoria Beckham. The actress wore a fiery red dress with cutouts from the designer’s label for the April 2023 premiere of her film “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.”
“Mary Jane,” written by playwright American Amy Herzog, stars McAdams as a mom trying to care for her ill son, using her sense of humor, optimistic spirit and the women in her life to navigate the unimaginable situation. The show costars Susan Parfour, Brenda Wehle, April Mathis and Lily Santiago. “Mary Jane” was nominated for four Tony Awards.
