More than three dozen firefighters battled a fire on the top floor of a three-story apartment complex in San Pablo on Saturday afternoon that displaced a number of residents.
The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District received a call about the blaze near Montoya Avenue and San Pablo Avenue around 4:30 p.m., and had the flames knocked down about 45 minutes later, a district spokesman said.
The number of displaced residents of the complex was not immediately available, but they were connected with the Red Cross, the spokesman said.
Firefighters saw smoke coming from the building when they arrived, and found fire inside.
The cause of the blaze, which the spokesman said originated within the apartment complex, was still under investigation as of 7 p.m. Saturday.
