GUN DISPLAYED: No shots were fired and no one was hurt when a male displayed a firearm during a verbal altercation around 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Chicago Ridge Mall, police said. The male fled before officers arrived, police said.
Crete
BURGLARY CHARGED: A 25-year-old Steger man accused of helping to steal seven handguns and a .22 caliber rifle during a residential burglary in unincorporated Crete is scheduled to appear at a June 28 pre-trial hearing, according to Will County sheriff’s police and court records online. Eric Matheny, 3600 block of Carpenter Street, served as lookout while another man stole a gun safe containing the weapons at the residence on West Exchange Street, near Kings Road, in July 2020, sheriff’s police said. The other man was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated possession of stolen firearms, according to Will County court and Illinois Department of Corrections records online.
ILLEGAL GUN: A 47-year-old Steger man who allegedly brandished a loaded .380 caliber handgun April 28 during an altercation outside a bar is charged with being a felon illegally possessing a firearm, according to police and Will County court records online. Kenneth A. Culver, 3400 block of Peoria Street, is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Monday on the charge, as well as a lesser felony charge of possessing a firearm without a FOID card, court records show.
Evergreen Park
ILLEGAL GUN: Johnny O. Allen, 34, Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon May 24 after officers recovered a loaded 9 mm pistol from the vehicle and determined Allen lacked a concealed carry license during a May 24 traffic stop in the 8700 block of Kedzie Avenue, police said. Allen, who was stopped for a license-plate violation, was also cited for driving on a suspended license, police said.
Frankfort
SHOOTING: Police responded at 10:10 p.m. to a shots-fired call in the 21300 block of Longview Drive, and found evidence of a firearm discharged but there was no immediate threat and no known injuries, police said.
Oak Lawn
BLEACH BATTERY: Three teens were treated May 23 at Advocate Christ Medical Center for skin and eye irritation after an unidentified male threw bleach in their faces at Raising Cane’s, 11006 Cicero Ave., police said. The three 18-year-olds said they were earlier in a road-rage incident in which the male threw a bottle of water at their car and one of them retaliated by throwing a cup of lemonade at his car. After the teens were seated in a booth, the male entered, demanded they clean his car and then threw the liquid at one teen, splashing the two others, police said.
SHOPLIFTING BATTERY: An employee at Walgreens, 6001 95th St., was punched in the face and his cellphone stolen May 24 after he used it to photograph three men exiting the store with merchandise, police said. The trio fled in a car police said matched one used in an April 1 retail theft at Walgreens, 10639 Cicero Ave., according to license plate reading surveillance cameras.
DRUG ARREST: Faozi Hirmiz, 61, and Sami Hirmiz, 19, both of the 8800 block of Austin Avenue, Oak Lawn, were charged with manufacture and delivery of cannabis, felony possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia May 29 after tactical detectives recovered 17 pounds of marijuana bagged for sale, about $7,000 cash and cannabis growing equipment during a search at their home, police said. Faozi Hirmiz was also accused of two counts of resisting arrest, police said.
Orland Park
ILLEGAL GUN: Corey L. Smith, 25, Schaumburg, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon May 14 after officers recovered a loaded 19 mm handgun and determined he lacked state approval to possess a gun during a May 14 traffic stop in the 200 block of Orland Square Drive, police said.
Palos Heights
DUI CRASH: Danielle N. Velinske, 26, 6000 block of 127th Street, Palos Heights, was arrested and accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit May 26 in the 6400 block of Illinois Route 83 after colliding with a tree, police said.
SHOPLIFTING BATTERY: A Good Samaritan was pushed to the ground and his cellphone stolen after he used it to photograph a May 26 retail theft at Jewel-Osco, 12803 Harlem Ave., police said.
Palos Hills
ILLEGAL GUN: Tareq A. Shaabneh, 37, 7800 block of 100th Street, Palos Hills, was arrested May 20 at and accused of unlawful use of an automatic weapon, recklessly discharging a firearm and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: Anas Raed Alkouk, 28, Palos Hills, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault May 23 in connection with an April 24 traffic altercation, police said.
DUI CRASH: John R. Handley, 69, 9800 block of 145th Street, Orland Park, was arrested and accused of drunken driving during a May 24 crash investigation at 111th Street and Southwest Highway, police said.
Park Forest
ILLEGAL GUN: Dorian N. Rucker, 40, Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon during a May 3 traffic stop on Sauk Trail near Indianwood Boulevard after an officer recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun and determined Rucker lacked a concealed carry license, police said. Rucker, who was stopped for suspended registration, was also cited for driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance, police said.
DUI CRASH: Antwon S. Robinson, 36, 1100 block of 191st Street, Homewood, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, driving without insurance and improper lane use May 5 after colliding with a tree on Sauk Trail at Western Avenue, police said.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: A 28-year-old Park Forest man who was being held on a domestic battery accusation, as well as aggravated damage to state-supported property, aggravated resisting arrest and obstruction was additionally charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer after spitting on two officers May 5 from his cell, police said. Charles P. Diorio, 300 block of Neola Street, was originally arrested May 4 relating in Park Forest and received additional charges May 5 after setting fire to the squad’s backseat while being transported from Monee, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: Caryn C. Terrell, 55, first block of Fir Street, Park Forest, was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon May 5 in that block after officers responding to a complaint recovered a 9 mm pistol and two loaded magazines from Terrell and determined she lacked a concealed carry license, police said.
INDECENT EXPOSURE: Christopher M. Williams, 30, 100 block of Forest Boulevard, Park Forest, was arrested May 7 and accused of indecent exposure after exposing himself to a woman outside a drug store on Main Street, police said.
DUI CRASH: Nicole M. Bays, 42, 300 block of Gentry Street, Park Forest, was arrested and accused of drunken driving and improper lane use May 16 at Herndon and New Salem streets after colliding with a parked vehicle, police said.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Kennedy E. McGhee, 21, first block of East Morningside Drive, South Holland, was arrested and accused of aggravated battery to a police officer after biting an officer on the arm and with two counts of resisting arrest for refusing to exit her vehicle May 17 in Wilson Court, police said. An officer used a stun gun to get her to release the steering wheel, police said. McGhee was originally being cited for illegally transporting alcohol and improper parking in the roadway, police said.
MAN SHOT: A 30-year-old man was transported in stable condition to Franciscan Health after being shot in the leg May 29 inside an apartment building hallway in the 100 block of Arbor Trail, police said.
Police said the shooting occurred during a fight with another man who has been identified but wasn’t immediately in custody.
Steger
GUN THREAT: A Steger man who telephoned a threat to shoot up a local bank Friday is charged with intimidation/physical harm, according to police and Will County court records online. Antonio Lozano, 59, 100 block of West 34th Street, is scheduled to appear at a June 24 preliminary hearing on the felony charge, court records show. He is released from the Will County jail on electronic monitoring, court records show.
STRANGULATION: Emani L. Burgess, 23, 900 block of Mary Byrne Drive, Sauk Village, was arrested May 23 on a Will County warrant charging him with two counts of aggravated domestic battery/strangulation and eight counts of misdemeanor domestic battery, according to court records online. The charge stems from an Aug. 28 verbal altercation in the 400 block of West 34th Street that escalated, police said.
