The National Science Foundation, the US agency responsible for driving scientific research, has launched a program to connect US startups with Taiwanese counterparts. This initiative aims to support Taiwan’s efforts to cultivate key players in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies.
As one of the largest funders of research in the federal government, the National Science Foundation is sponsoring a series of workshops abroad for the first time. These workshops are designed to help US startups collaborate with international companies, with Taiwan being the first destination selected for this program.
Taiwan is becoming increasingly important in the global technology supply chain, especially in the semiconductor industry. The country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs supports the initiative, which focuses on identifying and financing companies involved in “deep technology” fields such as biotechnology and quantum computing.
By facilitating collaboration between American startups and Taiwanese firms, the National Science Foundation hopes to foster innovation and drive technological progress in these cutting-edge fields. This program will provide valuable opportunities for startups to access new markets, resources and expertise, which will ultimately contribute to the growth and success of both countries’ technology industries.
