As a millennial, I’ve seen multiple fashion trends rise, fall, and rise again. Recently, I came across a photo of myself as a kid, rocking a pair of Mary-Jane shoes I wish I could wear today. Denim skirts, capri pants, and nameplate necklaces have all weaseled their way back into my wardrobe, and I’m constantly wondering which styles from my youth will make a comeback next.

One Y2K-inspired fashion trend that’s currently breaking through (again) is the thick mid-section belt. Some of today’s best-dressed stars have been adding them to their outfits, giving their looks a little something extra. In April, model Kaia Gerber styled one over a black shirt, and Dua Lipa posed poolside in her “Illusion” music video, rocking a black grommet belt over a sheer dress.

Most of these big, mid-section belts have a boho vibe, and popular styles feature round discs and extra-large, metal buckles. They’re perfect for loosely layering over long, breezy dresses or maxi skirts, leaning into 2024’s western trend (you might even feel tempted to add cowboy boots to your look).

Another option is a mid-section belt that’s somewhat simple and understated. These will come in handy if you’re simply hoping to cinch your waist or add that final touch that pulls your outfit together, rather than making this accessory the focus.

Since I tend to keep things pretty basic in the summer, reaching for T-shirt dresses and sundresses day after day, I’m excited to give the big mid-section belt another go. These options, ahead, will add a fashion-forward twist to a bunch of different outs, and—even better—you can easily shop them on Amazon.

I’ve admittedly already ordered this elastic stretch belt
, which sits around your waist and amps up a simple outfit the second you slip it on. As reviewers put it, it acts as the perfect “accent piece,” but the fact that it stays put without rolling is the true selling point.

This disc belt
is an accessory that serves no real purpose other than adding dimesion and giving your outfit a laid-back, boho feel. I’m already picturing it styled with a breezy white maxi skirt or using it to add a bit of edge to a lightweight knit dress.

If you’re looking for a mid-section belt that will blend in with your outfit and won’t feel distracting, this set of three
deserves to be added to cart. Aside from the neutral colorways, the elevated woven design ensures they pair well with all your summer staples. Plus, each one has its own unique twist thanks to the different buckles.

With a 4.4-star rating, this stretchy belt
is a hit among the fashion crowd, who find the design to be super versatile.

“Great accessory for any outfit,” reads one review. “It’s a very nice quality belt that is perfect accessory when wearing a tunic top. Can be worn with skirts, jeans, trousers to give you that perfect definition. Polished put together look”

We’re not too sure who makes Kaia Gerber’s going-out belt, but should you have a long-sleeved black top hiding somewhere in your closet, you can quickly copy the model’s look with this $10 lookalike
.

The thick, mid-section belt isn’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a rising trend. A chain belt is an equally cute alternative that can also be dressed up, meaning you’ll be able to reach for it during date night or before you head to a wedding. Taylor Swift even sported a similar $156 style back in January, but personally, I’m partial to this $17 (Amazon Version)
