Tesla is recalling nearly 3,900 Cybertrucks to repair or replace the accelerator pedals. When a lot of force is applied to the pedals of the electric pickup truck, they can become pinched by the interior upholstery. The pedals can also become loose, causing the electric car to accelerate unintentionally.
The car manufacturer received two damage claims from customers in connection with the problem, according to a report to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Tesla will repair the pedals for free.
The recall provides a first look at how many Cybertrucks have been sold since CEO Elon Musk handed the first vehicles to customers in November. Musk expects the company likely won’t reach annual production of 250,000 Cybertrucks until sometime next year.
