According to Yeni Şafak pro-government Turkish periodical, Russian President Vladimir Putin may leave for Turkey by the end of this month.
The Turkish press has repeatedly reported on the possibility of the Russian leader’s visit, but the official Ankara has not yet confirmed this information.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also spoke about the possibility of Putin’s visit after the local elections held on March 31.
Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted on April 8 that the contacts between the two presidents are being prepared and are possible in the foreseeable future, adding that the exact date has not yet been decided.
According to Yeni Şafak, the issue of resuming the work of the “grain corridor” agreed in July 2022 may be on the agenda of the talks between the two leaders. It is also possible to refer to the topic of the war in Ukraine and Ankara’s efforts to contribute to its cessation.
Yesterday, information appeared in the Turkish media, according to which Turkey offered Russia and Ukraine a draft peace treaty based on the 2022 Istanbul agreements. Meanwhile, Türkiye newspaper reported that Putin’s visit to Turkey will probably take place in May. According to periodicals, the Foreign Ministry of Turkey is working on the organization of Putin’s visit.
