Israeli citizen Shalom Avitan, 38, who was arrested in Malaysia about two weeks ago on charges that he entered the country with the intention of killing another Israeli, said in court that he denies guilt, Reuters reports.
Let us recall that Avitan was arrested at the end of March, two weeks after arriving in Malaysia. During the search, six pistols and about 200 rounds of ammunition were found on him. He arrived in the country on a French passport, but also presented an Israeli one.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Hussein spoke about Avitan’s arrest at the end of March. He said the 38-year-old Israeli was detained two weeks after he arrived in Malaysia through Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 12 at the Jelang Ampong Hotel.
Later it became known that the Malay police arrested the Israeli crime boss Eran Haya, who was put on the wanted list in Israel. It is alleged that Shalom Avitan was supposed to make an attempt on his life.
As the Mako website reported, a Georgian citizen and two Turkish citizens, who were his bodyguards, were detained along with Eran Haya. The crime boss also had a Turkish passport.
