DeVonta Smith and the Philadelphia Eagles have finalized a new contract extension, solidifying his position with the team through the 2028 season. The Eagles announced the deal on Monday, following reports of ongoing negotiations for a long-term contract.

As part of the agreement, the Eagles have exercised Smith’s fifth-year option for the 2025 season, ensuring his presence in Philadelphia for the next five years. The three-year extension is valued at $75 million, averaging $25 million annually.

This places Smith among the league’s top-paid wide receivers, sharing the same per-year earnings as A.J. Brown, who joined the Eagles via trade in 2022. The extension also includes $51 million in guaranteed money, underscoring the team’s commitment to the talented receiver.

Despite playing alongside prominent names like Brown, Smith has demonstrated remarkable consistency and performance since joining the Eagles in 2021. As the 10th pick in the 2021 draft from Alabama, Smith showcased his skills by leading the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns as a rookie.

DeVonta Smith maintained his stellar performance in subsequent seasons, contributing significantly to the Eagles’ success, including a Super Bowl appearance.

Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Smith is set to earn $6.4 million in 2024. The exercised fifth-year option for 2025 is estimated to pay him $15.5 million. His contract extension marks another significant move for the Eagles this offseason, following extensions for key players like offensive linemen Jordan Mailata and Landon Dickerson.
