Jessica Culver, a PhD student in the Adult and Lifelong Learning Program in the Faculty of Education and Health Professions, has been chosen to take part in the Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship 2024. This program is a partnership between National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions and features a group of 35 educators. Culver expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and said she was thrilled to be selected for this scholarship.

The Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship offers teachers the chance to embark on expeditions to various parts of the world, such as Antarctica, Alaska, and Patagonia. This year marks the 16th group of fellows who are gaining practical experience that they will bring back to their classrooms, with the goal of educating future generations as “planetary stewards”.

Culver’s expedition is set to begin on June 2nd, starting with a National Geographic Quest trip to Sitka, Alaska. From there, they will continue onward to Juneau, Alaska as part of the Lindblad Expedition “Exploring Alaska’s Coastal Wilderness.” Culver is excited about sharing this experience with her students and believes it will help her grow as a global educator.

With over 21 years of experience teaching middle school civics/economics and concurrent college credit history courses in the Ozark School District, Culver is dedicated to education in her home state. She is committed to continuing her professional growth through experiences like the Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship.
