The new program director of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) will be the previous deputy head of program management, Katrin Günther. The Broadcasting Council elected the 57-year-old journalist and long-time employee of the station to the office on Thursday evening in Potsdam.
Günther will succeed Martina Zöllner, who did not extend her contract, which runs until the end of July.
Before the election, RBB director Ulrike Demmer said about her personnel proposal that the station needed a modern manager in the program management who would implement the upcoming major changes together with her colleagues and who would be anchored in the region.
Günther said her goal was to make the station future-proof. She is passionate about a high-quality program. The Saxon native of Glauchau studied in Leipzig and has lived in Berlin since 1990.
Regarding the application process, Demmer said that the position had been advertised. Almost 30 applications were received. Three women and three men were invited to interviews, including two completely external people, two people from RBB and two from ARD or close to it.
The pre-selection fell on Katrin Günther, who has a great feel for topics and people and is a team player who knows how to take others along and get them carried away. Günther will take up her position in August.
