Armenian and Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud exchanged ideas on regional issues at today’s meeting.
According to the MFA of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan presented to his counterpart the latest developments in the regulation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the negotiations on the draft peace treaty and the position of Armenia on key issues.
Mirzoyan stressed that Armenia is highly interested in increasing logistics interdependence, which means both economic benefit and stability. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia brought to the attention of his colleague the “Crossroads of Peace” program developed by the RA government.
The head of the RA foreign political department emphasized that Armenia is developing political dialogue and partnership with all Arab countries, which was demonstrated by the participation in the ministerial meeting of the Arab League for the first time last year. “It is very important that we fill the gap of promising interaction with Saudi Arabia with joint efforts,” he noted.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Saudi Arabia also discussed the prospects of cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, tourism, education, information technology, as well as the protection of cultural values.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud also discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, on multilateral platforms, including in the context of holding “World Expo 2030”.
After the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in November 2023, this is the first high-level visit from Armenia to Saudi Arabia.
