The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included the “Feminist Anti-War Resistance” movement in the register of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities in the Russian Federation are declared “undesirable”. The corresponding entry in the register under number 159 appeared on April 25, Meduza reports.

Feminist Antiwar Resistance (“Feminist Anti-War Resistance”, “FAS”) is an association of Russian feminists that publishes information about grassroots anti-war initiatives and actions. It was founded the day after the start of a full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine.

The goal of this movement, according to its representatives, is to “break through the information blockade” and disseminate information about the war in Ukraine. Activists emphasize that participation in protests can be dangerous.

After the movement was included in the register of “undesirables,” representatives of the organization said that they were in touch with lawyers.

In December 2022, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included the “Feminist Anti-War Resistance” in the register of “foreign agents”. In addition, in January 2023, one of the founders of the movement, Daria Serenko, was declared a “foreign agent”.

In early April, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put Daria Serenko on the wanted list. It is unclear what exactly the activist is suspected of. Previously, no criminal cases had been reported against her. Serenko is located outside of Russia.
