On Wednesday, Aniplex released the first three minutes and 44 seconds of the upcoming anime film adaptation of Kazumi Takayama’s novel “Trapezium.” The preview includes the theme song “Nanmonai feat. Hoshimachi Suisei, sakuma,” performed by VTuber Hoshimachi Suisei with music by MAISONdes.
Scheduled to premiere in Japan on May 10, the film features a song titled “Hōi Jishin” (Direction Itself), performed by cast members Asaki Yuikawa, Hina Yomiya, Reina Ueda, and Haruka Aikawa. Takayama, the author of the original novel, wrote the lyrics for this song, which also appears in the novel itself.
Masaru Yokoyama, the film’s music composer, crafted the melody. Additionally, the cast will contribute another song to the film titled “Naritai Jibun” (The Me I Want to Become).
The novel revolves around Yū Higashi, a high school girl aspiring to become an idol over the course of ten years. To pursue her dream, she sets four rules for herself: avoiding social media, refraining from dating, blending in at school, and befriending girls from the north, south, east, and west who fit her criteria for beauty.
Aniplex Unveils Cast and Staff for “Trapezium” Anime Film Adaptation
In the film, Asaki Yuikawa takes on the role of protagonist Yū Higashi, while Hina Yomiya voices Kurumi Taiga, known as the “Western Star.” Reina Ueda portrays Ranko Katori, the “Southern Star,” and Haruka Aikawa plays Mika Kamei, the “Northern Star,” an old classmate of Yū Higashi from grade school.
Masahiro Shinohara directs the film at CloverWorks, with Koji Masunari supervising. Yuuko Kakihara pens the script, Rio designs the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama handles the music composition. Aniplex will handle distribution.
Takayama, a former first-generation member of the Nogizaka46 idol group, serialized “Trapezium” in Kadokawa Media Factory’s Da Vinci book and manga news magazine from 2016 to 2018. The novel was published by Kadokawa in November 2018.
